Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-21 00:00:00 Anthony Mickelbury Great little book that covers a ton of female inventors with short (1-3 page) summaries of their life, invention, and its implications. Starts in antiquity and continues through the Cold War with discoveries classified by type except for the last section that focuses on famous and forgotten female inventors. A definite must-read for anyone interested in the wealth of female achievement in the STEM fields. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-04-13 00:00:00 Richard Peal Fascinating. So many women are missing from the history books! One profile that stood out to me was Hattie Elizabeth Alexander. I survived meningitis when I was a kid thanks in part to her! She developed an antibody in the 1930s, which dropped the number of kids who died from meningitis by 80%! |
