The non-fiction science book Vaccine Research was written by Toney Allman. This book talked about vaccines, how they act to keep the body save and how they saved humanity. Vaccines are weakened pathogen germs that people insert in someone's body in order for the immune system to prepare for a real attack, if the microbe tries to insert the body. The immune system is a type of cell (the white blood cells). Its function is to protect the cell from a pathogen germ wanting to get in the cell. The vaccine makes it create an arm called anti-bodies. The anti-body is what the immune system makes with the help of vaccines. However, if a body is not vaccinated it might be too late for the immune system to act. There are three types of vaccines: one that includes a weakened pathogen germ, one that includes a dead pathogen germ and one that includes a part of the pathogen germ. Another type of defense is the macrophage. The macrophage is another type of cell that defends the body. It is made to eat the pathogen germ. It has dangerous chemicals that kill bad microbes. If the macrophage can't fight by itself, it sends signals for help. As one can see, vaccines are important things for our bodies and work hard. This book was good enough to answer three different questions. This book can relate to a science career and it can be a doctor. Doctors are the people that insert vaccines in people's bodies. With the help of scientists, they will have to take the pathogen germ and either kill it, weaken it or take a part from it. This subject relates to what we are now doing in class. Right now, we are doing cells and functions. We are also doing pathogen germs and their functions. This book has the immune system, which is the white blood cell that we did in class and it says exactly the same function. The branch of this book is life science. It is life science because it includes cells, which are living and the basic units of living things. The vaccine is also a living thing because it is a pathogen germ and these are single-celled living things. As one can see, this book has clearly answered three important questions. I would recommend this book to middle school and maybe fifth and fourth graders. The kind of person whom I would recommend to is a doctor, a scientist or someone who is willing to be one of those. For language usage, I would recommend this book to strong readers and those who are able to understand informative books a little bit long. As one can see, strong people might be the right people to read this book.
