Review # 1 was written on 2020-10-02 00:00:00 Shaynoah Sharp With his band, Country Joe & The Fish, and later with his solo career, Country Joe MacDonald was a strong voice for his counter-culture generation. As an ex-Navy man he was also an activist for Veterans and their concerns. He was also a family man and a teacher in alternative education. This book by his Navy buddy, Ron Cabral, is a portrait of their relationship over many years and of Joe as an artist and a man. Although it's self-published and may not be the best-edited account, it gives one of the only portraits on record of a complex and important figure. - BH. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-03-21 00:00:00 Rogier Thierry This is a view of the Beatles' place in pop culture through the eyes of 9 Italian writers. It's strangely organized and awkwardly translated, but still has some interesting perspectives, and has a LOT of great photos of Beatles memorabilia. |
