Review # 1 was written on 2019-04-22 00:00:00 Darren Anderson This short piece by Mackinlay and al-Bawaddy stresses the needs to look at the globalized nature of modern insurgency (specifically in its Islamist form). |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-11-06 00:00:00 Evangelos Makriniotis This book is conceptually notable in that the author, an erudite classical scholar, recognizes the importance of the technological changes occurring within evolution of textual communication, and he insightful forecasts future developments in the world of libraries, academia, and readership as a result. Some sections are borderline rants; however, they are well-thought out and expressed with a concise practicality and realism which must be seriously considered. As an undergraduate, I admit that some of his criticisms were difficult to swallow; as a student of librarianship, the author's reflections on the library history and development were particularly relevant; and as a bibliophile/technophile, I felt this book had uniquely addressed issues which have previously had a tendency in to be neglected in other works in similar genres. |
