A very interesting look at how constitutions reflect the intent of those who create them, and the cultural backdrop to their drafting. In America, we take for granted that constitutions are nothing more than the vessel for democracy. On the other hand, in the former Yugoslav republics, the constitutions have largely been shams perpetuated by nationalist political parties for the purpose of obtaining their goals of complete sovereignty. Funny how the constitution for Bosnia Herzegovina written by the US at the Dayton Accords was just as much a sham/destined for dysfunction as the constitutions written by the various nationalist groups of the former Yugoslavia. Highly recommended, if you're into this kind of thing.
