Review # 1 was written on 2019-05-25 00:00:00 Clinton Smith First published in 1912, 'The Moon Endureth - Tales and Fancies' is a collection of ten short stories and ten poems, written during the years 1896-1912, and packaged under a title derived from an 18th Century work called 'Lives of the Saints'. The short stories are of generally high quality, with a couple standing above the rest - my personal favourites were 'The Lemnian', 'A Lucid Interval' and 'The Riding of Ninemileburn', but opinions will vary. I personally struggle with poetry, so I was pleased that the poems are mercifully short and form less than 10% of the page count. I did try to read them, but they made no sense. Again, opinions will differ. On the other hand, I do love reading short stories and this was a great selection. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-04-26 00:00:00 James Jansma Some stories are a 5, some are just a 3. All in all enjoyed it. Buchan was an amazing story-teller. Everything from pre-Homeric to modern politics. |
