Rather lacking in formal detail, but for clarity you can hardly do better if you don't want to delve too deep. This is the course text for subject CT7 Business Economics for the Actuarial Profession, so their syllabus found at will also give you a very good idea about what the book covers. However, to really grasp the kind of thinking that modern economics is fixed on, I would suggest something like this- Or if that's closed for the moment, there's Lovell's Economics with Calculus or similar texts. You would also benefit from understanding game theory, for which Coursera's Competitive Strategy class or (if you want a deeper treatment) its Game Theory class are excellent resources. For behavioural economics, Kahneman's popular bestseller Thinking, Fast and Slow will give you a very readable account of the experimental foundations of the subject and the psychology informing it, but a course like Open Yale's Financial Markets by Robert Shiller will let you see these ideas in practice. There are also worthwhile titles like The Economics Anti-Textbook: A Critical Thinker's Guide to Microeconomics that broaden your understanding by examining the assumptions underlying the models used in economics.

As recommended by Tapestry of Grace "Primer", we use this book with every social studies unit or time period that we are studying as it is useful for basic scaffolding and my children really enjoy the maps and pictures to help them get a better "taste" for the cultures.
