Here is another one of the academic books that I've been reading. This one, edited by Patricia Shaw and Ralph Stacey, contains essays written by different academics and people working in organizations, about applying improvisation techniques to group work in said organizations; so, for example, how to stay present, spontaneous and comfortable with the feeling of risk that entails. This, in general, applied to organizations that might seem have no reason to be benefitting from these methods, but anything that relies on group work requires tools that help promote the flow of group creativity (even if the job seems like those we don't traditionally consider "creative"). And yes, people who do improv know that many of its tools are useful for this. Maybe you read this and think: "I don't work in an organization, so why should I care? This is not useful for me". And you're probably wrong, because any knowledge can be transferable, and like I just wrote, IF YOU WORK IN A GROUP, THIS IS USEFUL. And the book is written in a tone and way that make it very accessible: there is no particularly technical or specialized language, you don't have to have any previous knowledge of improv to understand it, and it is not particularly long. Each essay has a little introduction written by the editors that gives you a summary of what it is about so that if you're not interested you'll know not to read it. In general, I thought it is quite good. I won't go into more depth because I'm not going to write a summary of each essay (that's what the intros are for). I recommend it if you feel your group work could improve, if you wish you had more and better leadership skills (particularly in a more open and inclusive leadership), or if you want to know other uses of improvisation and its tools.

I think this might be meant as a textbook. Very dry. I read a little, skimmed even more and then gave up.
