Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-08 00:00:00 Arie Budhinata I'm guessing that this isn't a book that just anyone would pick up off the shelf and take a gander at. More than likely anyone who reads this will be involved in Alzheimer's research at some level or a friend or family member of someone suffering from the disease. This is really a shame, since the book does such a terrific job of explaining Alzheimer's in terms nearly anyone can understand, even the in depth cell biology that can really be a bore when not handled properly. But this book puts everything into perspective: how the disease is formed and what that means for the brain and the person involved; the known chacteristics of the disease that have led to ideas for diagnostic, treatment and preventive measures; plans for the future and how to try and stay one step ahead of the game. The photographs are commendable as well. Maybe this is because I'm a visual and hands-on learner, but the amazing synapse-to-synapse, cell-to-cell visuals are really worthwhile and well used; certainly not just added to fluff up the page count. I would love to see a book as well written as this for other diseases - Autism, Parkinson's, ALS, etc. Unfortunatly I don't think HBO has plans to cover these subjects in as great of depth anytime in the near future, but this book is an excellent model for anyone looking to do so.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-11-25 00:00:00 Greg Nash I found this book fascinating. It's an update on where Alzheimer's disease research is nowadays, and I was intrigued by the science behind it all, as well as the pictures and images demonstrating the details.
