This month I read a non-fiction book called "Water" by John Woodward. Water is the most important element on earth it is a simple combination of hydrogen and oxygen. Water probably common throughout the universe, but most commonly inform of ice or water vapor. Liquid water is very rare because it can exist only within a limited temperature range. Liquid water is essential for every living organism and for the earth. If there were no water on our planet, Earth would be a sterile ball of rock. Water is physically different from air because water absorbs light and heat. Oceans cover more than two-thirds of our planet, to an average depth of 3.8 kilometers and it contains 97 percent of the world's water. Ocean waves are ripples of energy, unlike currents they do not move water to any great distance. The land gradually wears away, and water plays a key role in this. Water breaks down rocks into smaller particles as it freezes. As water drains off the land, it creates streams and rivers these carve deep valleys. All living organisms depend on water most life form live in water. Water makes up at least half of our body weight, and it is the main component of each cell in our body. Water can also be turned into energy in many ways either directly or through power flowing. Therefor, water is essential for every living organism on Earth. I know this book is a non-fiction because it talks about scientific topics. It is about water which is a physical thing that exist in the world. I think the author decided to write this book because he wants children to know more about water. To know what would happen in the world if we did not have water. I know that because this book was made for children. Knowing about water is important because it composes most of our human body. It is also important because humans and our planet could not exist without water. We would not have any living organism, and the Earth would be a rock. We even use water for energy we use water for everything. Thus, the non-fiction novel Water is a useful book because children need to know about water and how it is essential for us to live. I enjoyed reading this book it was really instructive and entertaining. My favorite part of the novel Water is when they talked about how water is vital to our planet. If we did not have water, many things would happen. I also liked the part when they talked about Oceans and streams. My least favorite part was when they talked about fishing and fish farming because I don't really know a lot about fishing. I think I would read another book from this author because I liked the information. I also liked the pictures in the book and the fact that they wrote a summary paragraph. In conclusion, I would recommend it to any middle schooler.
