Review # 1 was written on 2008-05-08 00:00:00 Dra Catarina Cardoso The use of primary source material, art, photographs and drawings in this work is impressive. Walker details the themes, confusions and challenges of the Texan revolution that severed the state from Mexico. He teases out what we know about what happened and what is questionable or simply legendary, as well as explaining why the battle for the Alamo was a turning point in Texas and US history. The reading level is higher for this one, probably junior high. Highly recommended. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-12-07 00:00:00 Maurizio Grassia The author is the Alamo curator so he is quite knowledgeable. It's a very thorough account of what happened leading up to the Battle of the Alamo and the aftermath. |
