Review # 1 was written on 2009-10-24 00:00:00 John C Wilt I've taught HS/MS physics/physical science 13 years. These are all the basic electromagnetic experiments. Maybe a worksheet for each lab could be added. I like the one where a toothpick is taped perpendicularly across a long piece of narrow steel. Then balance this like a seesaw with the toothpicks on cups. Once perfectly balanced, remove the steel and rub it with a magnet to magnetize it. Return it to the balance and you'll see the steel lean to the diving angle of the magnetic field lines into the earth. I've never done this one! I count about 34 experiments in all (with variations suggested in each). I have a good electrical background, so I have no trouble with all these experiments. Someone with less E-M background might like a little more theory, and extra picture, and maybe a table/worksheet for each lab. But I could easily run with exactly what is in this book to design all these labs. I give 4.25* (A-). |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-02-20 00:00:00 Clinton Stewart I've built a basic motor from this book, and it works great! It draws a little over one ampere of current and spins at several hundred rpm. |
