Review # 1 was written on 2015-05-27 00:00:00 Brad Dare A book about places where the presidents went on vacation? BOOOO-RING! If that's your opinion, sorry to break it to you, but this book was fascinating. It's interesting how you get a window into each president's psyche by the way the relaxed, from Washington's attention to detail, Lincoln's love of the troops, FDR's populism to Nixon's paranoia and solitude. If you have a passing interest in presidential politics, I strongly recommend this book. One thing's for sure: LBJ was a JERK. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-08-17 00:00:00 Brent Shepherd Decent book about presidential retreats. Not all presidents included but Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, T. Roosevelt, F. Roosevelt and all through G.W. Bush. The Nixon portion reads like it a cut and paste from some other book, and, like many books by other reporters, Republican moves are treated more critically than similar Democrat moves. All in all, not a bad book. |
