Review # 1 was written on 2012-05-02 00:00:00 Joseph Krzeminski The story itself is compelling, but there are numerous problems with the book. The book is in desperate need of an editor. Past about halfway, the characterization gets pretty muddy, and most of them speak with the exact same voice. There are spelling errors throughout. The author really likes to preach, continually, repetitively, and annoyingly. Some of it comes across as little more than an angry rant. I can certainly understand the author's point, but I'd rather not be clubbed over the head with it for 300-odd pages. I like this story, because it is interesting, and I, too, love the idea of living out in space. I want to love this story, but it's very hard to get past the deficiencies to get there. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-05-09 00:00:00 Lu Weifeng Just finished my third or fourth re-read of this one. I'd love to highly recommend purchase of this volume, but Amazon's copy is an unauthorized, not paying the author copy, so don't buy it. If Carl wouldn't mind I'd send anyone who wants it the .pdf copy I have. This book is highly entertaining, science fiction, political philosophy, anti-big-government, humorous - everything I like in a book. The .pdf version could use some editing, but not much. |
