Review # 1 was written on 2016-12-31 00:00:00 Sebastien Laporte I'm glad I read this book -- Jacobs raises interesting questions about media and race. Would have read much differently in November 2008 when the US elected its first black President. And now in November 2016, the book reads differently than in 2000, when it was published, and 2008, when Barack Obama was elected. Difficult not to feel hopeless about the future of media and its role in forging a united America. Yet, the media is crucial as we navigate a post-Trump victory and we need scholars to continue to monitor and assess the media.
