Based on the title, I expected a narrative that described the typical hardships associated with the experience of being a slave. Instead, the author proselytizes throughout her autobiography while repeatedly overused words such as "lovely", "dear" and other flowery vocabulary. I would say I was extremely disappointed in the content and lack of organization of the author's thoughts.

This short book left me with more than most longer ones do. Though the sentences are not perfect, there is some variation in grammar techniques, and dialect differences are obvious, I was hooked from the very beginning. If all authors had equatable passion to that of Drumgold's portrayed in less than 80 pages, they would see a world of differece. Most of all, I admire her passion, hope, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, whom my hope is in also. So many lines in this piece of literature gave me chills, and its entirety left me in absolute awe of her personage. "I hope that all who will may have the pleasure of knowing of something of the joys and of the sorrows that have crowned this little life of mine, but in and through it all I have seen the blessed hand of Him who is wise." Just yes. If the book consisted solely of this one sentence, I still would have given it a five star rating.
