Communication with the Dead (Book) By: Stuart A. Kallen (Author) Format: Library Binding: 80 pages Publisher: Referencepoint Press (August 2009) The Library of Ghosts and Hauntings Reading level: Ages 9-12 Stuart A. Kallen is a prolific writer having written more than 250 non-fiction titles, and is an editor of children's and young adult books. In this set of books written for series set the Library of Ghosts & Hauntings, Mr. Kallen delves into the afterlife and the ability to communicate with the dead. The concept of communicating with loved ones who have passed over has captured the imagination of the mainstream public hence the popularity of TV series such as "Crossing Over" with John Edwards and "The Ghost Whisperer" starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. This book contains narratives, personal accounts, and discussions. There are photos of places and people, mostly in black and white, along with sidebars to help explain some of the phenomena discussed in the book. The book examines the myriad ways of communicating with the dead such as automatic writing and electronic communications. There are fascinating examples by TV mediums, ghost hunters, and even university scientists. Content contains narratives, personal accounts, and facts about spiritualism and communication with the dead. Discussed are the many ways people have tried contacting and communicating with the dead and provides insight into what many believe may happen after death. The topic is controvertible to say the least but is dealt with in a matter of fact and simple to understand format. This is a fascinating look into the subject of the afterlife and while the author offers no scientific justification, it is a very well written account and informed introduction into the spiritual realm and its purveyors. There are source notes, bibliographical references (pp. 71-75), an index and an area for further research. This Set/Series contains five titles by various authors including Ghosts, Ghost Hunters, Hauntings, and Poltergeists.

I've read this twice now, I just find it so fascinating. I've always had an interest in the afterlife. So i bought this on a whim in ASDA, not really expecting anything fantastic. I was pleasantly suprised! Although the writing is very simple and nothing out of the ordinary. i find i can't put it down whenever i pick it up. In places it could be better written, but what do you expect from someone who is just writing about their life and doesnt have any professional understanding in writing books!
