Review # 1 was written on 2020-04-14 00:00:00 Richard Martnez My thanks to my friend, Kathleen, for bringing this story to my attention. Chekhov writes poignantly about death and the meaning of life itself, bringing a lot to bear in just a few pages. I believe this is a story as much about love, intimacy and connection, as about death and separation. Chekhov wrote it while awaiting his own impending death. Write what you know. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-04-11 00:00:00 Stephen Mcdermott Thank you to Ken for steering me to this one. Perfect timing, as it takes place during the lead up to Easter Sunday. Life and death, time and pretense, habit and echoes of memory. A gorgeous Chekhov story. |
