Review # 1 was written on 2015-02-11 00:00:00 EDWARD CARPENTER A detailed account of the political background at the time of Maratha awakening. Primarily Shivaji 's period in detail but is very elaborate. Where the son (Dennis Kincaid) made it out as lighter read, the father gives a detailed account with cross references and justifications for premises taken. Takes a more sympathetic view on Shivaji compared to contemporary western historians. The ebook I read, has a lot of spelling issue and made it a laborious affair. But I am glad that I persisted.
