Review # 1 was written on 2014-02-11 00:00:00 Thomas Johnson Though it was dry at times, it seems like a good contribution to the body of scholarly literature in the field of music therapy. My favorite chapter was "Developing the music journey" by Julian Raphael, Leslie Bunt and Sarah Hoskyns. It outlined practical music exercises for clinical improvisation, including common modes, pentatonic sets from other musical cultures, accompaniment patterns, one-note "turnarounds," simple 12-bar blues, two-chord vamps, and rhythmic grooves. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-08-21 00:00:00 Frances Tedeschi One thing my daughter Anne taught me was how to appreciate different styles of music. This book granted me new insights to the world of music. I also gained a deeper appreciation of what our daughter Anne has gone through to achieve her Doctorate of Musical Arts. |
