Well, finishing this book means I've read all four of Michael Singer's books. "The Untethered Soul" is my favorite - one of the greatest books of all time (IMO)... I'd say, in order then followed by "The Surrender Experiment", "The Search for Truth" and this book, which is a totally awesome little book that I loved - I'll read anything Michael Singer writes - but this is the only book of his I'm not giving a five star rating to. Four stars, really liked it, certainly an easy, worthwhile read... But if you haven't read any Michael Singer I'd follow the order given above, starting with "The Untethered Soul". That book and "The Surrender Experiment" were written in the 2000's... the other two in the 1970s, so chronologically "Search for Truth" was first, then this book, then Untethered Soul & Surrender Experiment. All great books no matter what order you choose :)

I was in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand for a weeks in 2015 with my girlfriend at the time. The food was great but the people were fake happy so I escaped with my kindle and the book The Untethered Soul. And avoided work duties with my laptop and Game of Thrones. Went for a walk one night with one of the guest residents and a baby cobra slithered past our feet. Nice place. The years passed and that book was on my mind. Eventually I wanted to understand the man's views more and got his older books from the 70s. What did he do for 40 years since then? I didn't like the first one but this second one had some powerful insights, especially the last essay on love. I am still going through Singer's lectures and trying to understand his surrender philosophy. It is an experiential thing. Very counter-intuitive. It makes sense too but very difficult when surrounded by so much despair and 1-3 chakra vibes. I am learning. Growing. Failing. I keep forgetting all my wisdom... Also want to go to the source of the author's thinking by reading his influences like Meher Baba (who my literary hero Bukowski couldn't stand), Yogananda and Ram Dass. Just gotta keep my skeptic hat on because there's a lot of woo woo when it comes to yoga and all this stuff. I don't wanna be misled by smart gurus. Yet we must remain weary of our own skepticism too and not get caught into the blind authority worship of science either unless you have the expertise for that. Perhaps yoga is the only true science that has ever existed. I am chewing on this idea. It is a radical thought. Maybe wrong. Yogic science is about subjective experience. The masters have left their wisdom behind. It is important to study it. We don't need to go to Mars. I do believe in permanent redemption and liberation. It just requires diligence and remembrance. To embody love. To love everyone and everything. Forever and always. What else is there? Hell yeah!
