Review # 1 was written on 2013-01-15 00:00:00 Marie Steckbeck Fascinating to see what the British Isles looked like in Roman times and then the country develops through maps of 584, 636, 878, 1065 and 1087 and through to 1892. Other countries where Britain had an interest (and there were many) are also featured with a strong emphasis on India and some mention of Africa. There are also maps of many battles beginning with the battle of Senlac in 1066 and ending with Sebastopol in 1854/5. And there is a superb layout of the crisis of the battle of Waterloo, which could easily be used for war-gaming (if anyone does that these days). A lovely book with plenty of items to continually refer to and enjoy. |
