Review # 1 was written on 2009-08-13 00:00:00 JuanCarlos Planas There is an incredible volume of knowledge packed into this book. Twenty six chapters of very detailed information about amateur radio. I think had I not already been through the technician, general and amateur extra manuals, I would have been a bit intimidated at first. This is really the kind of total-reference book I was looking for when I started into ham radio. I have heard from a trusted source that the next 'good' version of this book is the 2010 version. So wait to buy your own until then. :) I am waiting. But not patiently. In the mean time, I plan to check this one out from the library until they tell me I can't.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-08-16 00:00:00 Michael Harpel Look, everything you need to know about Victorian spiritualism is contained in this book. On the other hand, it is a turgid read. No way could I wade through the endless lists of names of those who either did or didn't support the featured mediums. Conan Doyle has been relentlessly thorough. I'm sorry to any spirits who are observing my writing of this, and no disrespect to you (!) but the book was hard-going to put it mildly. The final chapter was the most interesting - what, in the words of those communicating from 'beyond the veil' happens after death. It is fascinating though how spiritualism took off in Europe (and indeed America) during this time and the amount of 'supernatural' phenomena that was apparently witnessed. I can't believe it was ALL bogus.
