Review # 1 was written on 2014-11-16 00:00:00 Haewon Jeon I started reading this book under the impression it was variations on a theme, however it's more like a dissertation on the evolution of the primary theme to include other common folktales. Though it wasn't at all what I expected, and had a few language issues (a true product of its time, it assumes the reader is fluent in German, French, and Latin as well as English and quotes in these languages), it was a very fascinating read and the conclusion was wonderfully written.
