Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-12 00:00:00 Michele Galbraith I've seen bad reviews of this book from people who hadn't even read the book simply because one edition's cover features a Hindu Goddess on the front. While I don't know why they chose that for the cover, an actual look into the book will show that the author, on several occasions, clearly establishes that Sikhism is an independent religion on pages 10, 34, 41, and 105. The quote from 105 particularly emphasizes this view: "(In view of the controversy as to whether or not the Sikhs are a sect of the Hindus, the following quotation is also interesting:) I practise not fasting, nor observe the Ramzam; I serve Him who will preserve me at the last hour. The one Lord of the earth is my God. Who judgeth both Hindus and Musalmans. I neither go on a pilgrimage to Makka, nor worship at Hindu places of pilgrimages. I serve the one God and none other. I neither worship as the Hindus, nor pray as the Musalmans. I take the formless God into my heart, and there make obeisance unto Him. I am neither a Hindu nor a Musalman." With this in mind, those who are interested in studying Sikhism should look into this book.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-12-04 00:00:00 Andrew Lauder Lacks depth and does not include any references or citations. This book is more of a story than a work of historical research. It would have been more readable if only it was more accurate and didn't quote verses out of context.
