Review # 2 was written on 2020-06-21 00:00:00 Shanna Hixenbaugh Heavily relied on a cliche that was already on its way out of fashion at the time. Breaks one of the golden age rules hard. Interesting in that sense-- certain cliches are cliches because they were at one time ubiquitous, and here is an especially outdated one in its natural habitat. In some way, it is a piece of history. But, readers were tired of this by 1929, and it's still disappointing now. Distractingly racist to a modern reader.
