Review # 1 was written on 2012-04-25 00:00:00 Timothy Cox This is a pretty handy introduction to how a number of writing careers work. It's straightforward and uncomplicated and, for the most part, seems honest and forthright with all the pros and cons, struggles and difficulties with the different ways to make money with writing. The edition I have is unfortunately a little outdated as of my reading of 2017 (it lacks depth in some modern options and considerations like self-publishing, blog writing, etc). I still use this book as a text for writing students, but it is also lacking in practical application or specific how-to, though it's still helpful to get an introduction to what jobs are available for writers and for people struggling with that question, "So you're a writing major; what are you gonna do with that?" |
