Despite having been written in 1892, this book is the best one I've read on the Waterloo campaign, specifically evaluating the performance of the various leaders on all sides and the movements of their troops over the period of 15 thru 18 June, 1815. Clear writing, insightful analysis, based on primary sources, and excellent descriptions of what Grouchy, to pick one leader, knew, and when he knew it & his decision making in light of the information he had available. Does not dwell on describing the battles (Quatre Bras, Ligny, Waterloo, and whatever was happening before Wavre), but concentrates on the strategies of the army commanders. Highly recommended.

I decided to read this book because it had been mentioned it several other books on Waterloo. Unfortunately, the Kindle version has many errors in the electronic conversion, so many errors that sometimes it is quite difficult to read. It has some other problems, mainly with notes which are located in places which make a smooth flow of reading impossible. This might be the electronic conversion too, but I am not sure. Although I know the story of Waterloo, I found some of the material difficult to follow and it seemed to drag in places. Should you choose to read it, try to find a printed copy.
