Oxford atlas of the world. (2009). New York, NY: Oxford University Press. Citation by: Robbie Biddle Type of Reference: Geographical Reference Call Number: Ref 912 Content/Scope: This Atlas is appropriate for grade levels nine and up. It is printed annually which allows it to adjust to current events around the world. Accuracy/Authority/Bias: This book is printed by what is considered to be one of the more reputable printing companies, Oxford University Press. The process in which items are peer reviewed are very rigorous. Arrangement/Presentation: The book opens up with a statistical section, then discusses at length world geography, and then delves into the different places on earth with up to date information. It contains 448 pages with colored detail. Relation to other works: There are many atlases out there, this is the only one that is printed annually. This allows maps and currents to be very accurate for student research. Accessibility/Diversity: This book is set up with up to date maps that pique student interest. When taught proper geographic analysis skills the possibilities are endless. Cost: $89.95 Professional Review: Werner, E. K. (2012). Oxford atlas of the world. Library Journal, 137(1), 130.

I haven't made it through every single page... These maps will take years to comb through and I'm so grateful to have this beautiful reference as the centerpiece of my coffee table. I have, however, finally finished reading all of the educational information that accompanies these maps. At times it felt like reading a reference book because I was, indeed, reading a reference book. But it also felt like reading history, sociology, geography, and poli-sci all wrapped into one!
