Wow! So much information--and so much I did not know. Yes, there were things I already knew (Alan Freed), things I knew but aren't something I think about much (Chrissy Hynde), but yes, also many things I did not know. I hadn't realized the origins of the song "Hang on Sloopy" or that it was a mainstay for The Ohio State University's marching band. The first 5 chapters read pretty quickly, then chapters 6-11 kind of bogged down for me. Chapter 12 was interesting (and I learned how Don Webster came to Cleveland. I knew him mostly from television news and Academic Challenge.) Chapter 13 about the Rock Hall was interesting but some of the details about obtaining the financing and the struggles over where to locate it got a bit tedious for me. All in all, I discovered that Ohio has a rich musical history that I now appreciate more than I did before reading this book.

A history of rock and roll in and related to Ohio. It's a plethora of Ohio rock info. At times it can get a lot bogged down in detail, as with the history of the song Hang on Sloopy itself but, overall it's a great reference for all Ohio area Rick bands movements and, scenes that you can't find collected anywhere else.
