Our daughter loved reading about Rosa and Abby, so she was excited to see this book. See why she loved Willie, too in the full review.

Steven Kellogg is fondly known for keeping alive the old American spirit of tall tales through the stories that he often retells, from Mike Fink to Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett, and I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago fits in nicely with those other works. The book is about a storyteller who boasts that he was born near the time of the beginning of the world, and has lived through and personally witnessed all of the big events in world history. He talks about seeing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, teaching Samson how to use his super strength, fighting with the victorious American army in the Civil War, and much more. Steven Kellogg clearly loves to keep alive the old-fashioned spirit of the American tall tale, and picture book readers always look forward to what story he plans to relate next. I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago is a fun book that fans of Steven Kellogg will want to read. I would give it one and a half stars.
