I thought this was going to be a lot cuter than it turned out to be. From the description, I already had a problem with his name. Lowy is a terrible name for anything, but especially for a snowman. Why not a cute, fitting name for a snowman? The illustrations were the best part about this, because they're adorable. The snowman is so cute. The worst part about it was the repetition. I hate repeating lines and themes because it's really redundant and gets old fast. I got really annoyed that each animal he met was treated in the same way. He pronounced that he would help each time he came upon a new animal, then asked if they would like to come and that he was looking for Christmas. And it would go "Off they go, the two of them, for the little rabbit goes along." I was like, really? You mean when he picked the rabbit up and asked if he'd like to go, the rabbit went with him? Does that even need to be said? So every time he met a new animal it was "Off they go, the _however many of them_, for the little_animal_ goes along." I was SO sick of it! Oh it was driving me crazy! Some of the wording was a really lame and I wouldn't like to be reading it aloud. The rabbit went "Nibble nabble" on the snowman's carrot nose. The horse went "Smick smack" on the hay hair. It was odd for a snowman to have straw hair. He also had a "full bag of food" which was just weird. What kind of food does a snowman eat?? Lowy lives way up north and he wants to know what Christmas is so he sets out to look for it. If he didn't know what Christmas was, I wondered how he heard about it in the first place... He first met a rabbit and the image of him cradling that little bunny as the bunny held on to his carrot nose and took a munch out of it was so adorable! The rabbit was hungry so it was sweet that he got to eat, even though it's bad to have your nose eaten! The scenarios got steadily worse from there. A mouse was hiding in a cup to escape a cat...a random cat out in the snow? A duck got one foot frozen "onto the water." What does that even mean? How did one foot get down under the ice and in the water and the other foot was on top of the ice? Don't you mean "in" the water? What? Lowy met a fox next, caught in a trap. Lowy said he would help if the fox promised not to eat any animals ever again. It was unfair of him to ask that. It's not his fault he eats other animals and you can't ask an omnivore to survive as an herbivore. Also, his paw is caught in a trap with razor metal teeth as he asked this...Good time to kick someone when they're down. A horse was hungry too, (but hunger was already used!) so he ate Lowy's straw hair. A donkey was cold so Lowy gave him his scarf. That was sweet. The bunny and fox were so cute riding on top of the horse. They heard a bird in distress, Idk what was wrong. A mom bird was on a branch and her 3 babies were in the nest, that maybe looked like it was falling, I'm not sure. He gave them his Santa hat and they climbed in "just in time," whatever that meant. This time the animal didn't come with them, because the mom stayed with her babies. That was weird to suddenly not take on a new passenger. The next case was so bizarre. He found a mole in trouble, and I have absolutely no idea what was going on. The situation was so confusing. A big mole was pointing up at a cliff where a rock was about to fall or something, and he was standing beside a hole where two little moles were in. Lowy used the stick his bag had been on to pop to rock up to save the family. It made no sense. Lowy could have just picked the rock up and took it off the cliff, not left it there... He hears woodpeckers clucking and he gives his two buttons to them, put them in the hole to block the cold...okay..It was so strange to see two buttons standing up inside a hole in a tree. How are they going to stay like that?? Lowy had finally given away everything he had and he looked so sad! He despaired that he would never find Christmas because it was dark. The other animals wouldn't let him give up so they continued on. A page had this blue/gray color scheme with snow falling and the silhouettes of the donkey and the bunny and fox riding him, and the horse with Lowy and the others. It was so pretty and their figures so cute. They all slept in a barn they found, and Santa came in the night. He told them that Christmas is about doing kind things for others. You help, give, share and forgive others. He gave every one of them a gift. "Everyone is in raptures." I thought that was an odd line, that there was a better, more kid-friendly way to say that. It ended with them all celebrating Christmas Eve. It wasn't really complete for me and the ending so sudden. Lowy got another Santa hat, the donkey got a scarf, the horse got a box of hay, the rabbit got a carrot, the fox got a toy mouse (?), the mouse got a piece of cheese, and I'm not sure what the duck got. The best thing about it is that the snowman kept giving away his things to help others in need, until he had given away everything that he had. That was a really sweet thing to do and it should teach kids to give, which is important.

A snowman wants to find Christmas so he sets out in the cold and snow to find it. Along the way he comes across various animals who soon become friends to him after he gives them something of his to help them survive-feel more comfortable. In the end they don't think they will ever find Christmas but when Santa finds them all in an old shelter he leaves the snowman all new things that he gave away and then they realize that they had Christmas in their hearts and with them the entire time.
