Jenna got the guilty conviction on her ex-husband she needed to finally feel safe from the abusive and threatening relationship that culminated in her attempted murder. Now she was free to gather her two children and head to the beautiful Oregon coastal town of Bandon and the home of her childhood. Hopefully, she could finally find peace, though there were unfinished issues she'd have to settle; one being the first and only man she'd ever really loved. You can almost taste the sea in the air and feel the cool of the fog on your face as she describes the family home where she could establish a new life among those family members remaining and school friends left behind. Can she really assume she's safe from Ian's ulterior motives, however? What dark secrets have been left for her to uncover along with the emotional baggage? This is a light-hearted romance and one that keeps your interest through the inter-woven subtle sub-plots.

I have to confess I was a little nervous when I started this book. initially, the writing distracted me from the story and the characterization lacked a certain degree of realism that I generally demand from a book. By the end of the book I was in tears. In the middle of the airport. FACE THE RAIN is a sweet little romance for anyone who needs their coastal fix or just wants to absorb a little extra local color while propped up on a blanket on the beach. Ms. DeNaughel is a natural storyteller. And I have no doubt that with each progressive novel her skills will only sharpen. If you are looking for a light, yet satisfying read, a quick diversion from the weight of everyday life, then you are looking for FACE THE RAIN.
