. Subtitled “Quality of Life in the 21st Century” this book is a compendium of wisdom informing readers how to have a satisfying life. Greinke’s observations illustrate each of the cited precepts which head chapters. His personal anecdotes enliven the text and the prescience demonstrated by a book published 15 years ago is remarkable. Examples: the advance of global warming to the point that we approach, or maybe have passed, the possibility of reversal. Another is the acceptance of the narcississtic personality as a norm that made a person like Trump electable. Greinke’s book leads off with Death which he contends is needed so we may fully appreciate life. The chapters on child raising and materialism are models of home truths and common sense. Greinke’s long experience as a Certified Social Worker specializing in the treatment of emotionally disturbed children lends him acute insights. I recommend this book highly for its readability and courage in speaking out on controversial issues.
