Monica Dietrich's 2007 textbook, owned since February 2008, waited long enough. This is one of the best, receiving three stars because writing matters. Flat out, "gentle" is over-used. Only something particularly rough should be described. I've never seen it tacked on in such asinine ways. The roof of a mouth??? Is a tongue anything but soft against it??? Monica asserts that visualization and connection is personal and needs to unfold however it works. However, conversation is conversation. We need no separate meeting places to discuss the past or future, any more than we do verbally and no different place for spirit contact. I secondly disagree that shielding ourselves before healing exchanges should be dismissed. True, God and Earth are positive and good. We won't catch what ails anyone. However, opening health channels can result in temporarily being sick. It happened to me. Reiki students say it is common. Monica ought to have mentioned it in her healing modalities. We can be shielded from nervousness, or empathic pain, during Gestalt; spiritually scanning an animal's physical wellness. I am taking care to end on a happy note! I got a lot out of this book and praise the balance of it very much. It is natural that textbooks specialize in a few things, or generally introduce a bunch. I'm surprised that Monica succeeded at providing a working knowledge of so much. I know what auras are, in detail. I learned how to meditate as a beginner. I was impressed that she raised a solution for animal communication rookies, unsure they are receiving information. Meditate first to quiet our thoughts; the first step for healing as well. I have received chakra balancing but Monica gave the basics for doing that ourselves too. For anyone interested in animals metaphysically, these are well-covered basic courses.

With a potent combination of welfarist history, case-based evidence and nuts-and-bolts abolitionist AR theory, Francione deftly pokes precise and gaping holes in welfarist thinking. This complex book serves as animal rights primer, welfarist critique and an exposé of the vivisection industry. Excellent!
