Review # 1 was written on 2012-08-18 00:00:00 Cindy Sundberg I loved this book. Almost every story reminded me of my dad. Leon Hale is a little bit older, but they both grew up in central Texas in the 1930s and ate pinto beans and cornbread and shared many other life experiences. However, the key difference is that Hale quit smoking in his 40s and is still alive at age 90+ and Dad didn't and died at 61. Such a waste - I miss him so much.
