Review # 1 was written on 2015-11-15 00:00:00 Jim Johnson Louisa's sketches give us a glimpse and a perspective of a fascinating time in history. She describes places and peoples circumstances beautifully and has a huge heart doing so. An advocate of abolition and an early feminist, this account gives us a rare insight into a woman's point of view. Although with our 21st century senses, it may be difficult to read at times, her observations are non the less, telling. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-05-31 00:00:00 Anne Richards I LIKE MOST PEOPLE HAVE READ THE LITTLE WOMEN SERIES AND WANTED TO SEE WHAT OTHER STUFF WRITTEN . I ENJOYED IT TO AN EXTENT BUT ALSO FOUND IT AT TIME DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW WITH THE ENGLISH STYLE !!!. I LIKED THE CHILDHOOD STORIES THE BEST FOLLOWED BY THE HOSPITAL STORIES AND WAS INTERESTED IN THE HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT THE BLACK AND WHITES WERE AT THIS TIME AND THE SCHOOL CHILDREN PRETENDING TO VOTE |
