A Lady's Quest by Bonnie Hamre An unusual take on the Duke-seeks-bride story. Historical romance meets modern prenuptial agreement to mutual satisfaction. Did I skim? No Will I re-read? Assuredly. While I'm at it, I'll browse the author's back list. The Spinner's Dream by Alice Gaines A complex situation rendered simple by faith, trust, and love. Did in skim? No Will I re-read? Yes. Sooner rather than later. The Gift by Jeanie LeGendre The idea behind the story exceeded the story itself. Some vivid imagery was obscured by extraneous words. Did I skim? Nope Will I re-read? Probably The Proposal by Ivy Landon The story sizzled, experenencial contemporary chick lit at its best. Dd I skim? Not even! Will I re-read? In a heart beat. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-03-28 00:00:00 Yoda Vader [ Despite some unimaginative hyperboles ("the most brilliant intellect she'd ever matched wits with", "his dark suit fitting his lean & tanned body to perfection") there's an interesting complexity to this simple plot. The action takes place in a single evening, but it allows for a major transformation in the female protagonist. Tracey starts off believing "torrid lust (is) a romance writer's invention" - nice irony there! - then finds herself in an unforseen situation where "her heart slammed into her ribs with the force of a freight train." Craig's way of demonstrating the virtues of blind & unquestioning trust is unusual. And one doesn't expect a romance heroine would enjoy love/sex "without even being satisfied fully"!
