Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-23 00:00:00 Joshua Trauger The story captivated our whole family and we all ache to know more about York and his part in the expedition. Overall it is a light intro into York's story and I'd have enjoyed having more grit in the book.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-06-12 00:00:00 Robert Gilbert York has always been the most fascinating of the Corps of Discovery to me. I was excited to find this book written from his perspective to fit into my Lewis and Clark unit. I was disappointed to find that it glossed over all but the most basic details of the trip and focused squarely on his dream of freedom. Although it is clear in the story that Clark never freed York, it doesn't mention that Lewis pressured Clark to free him until it ruined their friendship. I wish this book had a little more to it.
