Review # 1 was written on 2012-12-04 00:00:00 Glenn Arakaki Not a biography This book contains a number of suppositions about Darwin from inherited genius to when he formed his theories. It however is not a biography. The book deals primary with his books on origin of species and the descent of man, and the origin and effects of them.

Review # 2 was written on 2019-07-30 00:00:00 Laj Van Opstal I first read, and was enchanted by, Gilbert White's The Natural History of Selborne many years ago. I have visited Selborne itself, too, so I was specially intrigued to read this book. Richard Mabey is a wonderful writer with a deep sympathy for nature - the ideal biographer for the great man. I enjoyed every word, and came away feeling I'd had a glimpse into the mind of a genius nature-lover. Heartily recommended.
