Review # 1 was written on 2013-11-24 00:00:00 Chris Lyman Stark and sparse, because it was written as an adult literacy aid, but it is nonetheless a moving story of a family growing in Appalachian poverty in the 1900s. An excellent read. Despite using very simple language, the prose has a rhythm to it.
