Review # 1 was written on 2008-01-31 00:00:00 Aimee Stambaugh Two humorous stories, originally published in French and here accompanied by simple line drawings to break up the text, are set in two different elementary schools. The first tale sees Claudette excitedly bringing her autograph of a famous cellist in when the students are given an assignment to bring their most cherished possessions into the classroom. In the second story the school's new fax machine causes trouble for the teacher when her finace' continuously calls and faxes to profess his love. While not outstanding, the light humor and satisfying endings make these stories entertaining enough to keep students' attention. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-08-06 00:00:00 Angela McConville I read an advance reader copy I picked up in grad school in 2005. These two tales (The Autograph and Our Teacher's Boyfriend) are translated from the French. They had a kind of Roald Dahl quality to them, but not as good. Maybe they were funnier in French. The second one was really strange - a class gets a telephone/fax machine and the teacher's boyfriend keeps calling to tell her he loves her. |
