Review # 1 was written on 2012-01-26 00:00:00 Gregoire Montangero This is an engaging but dated-in-its-case-study-texts engagement with Laura Mulvey's key essay exploring the male gaze in film - a central text of feminist film studies. In this case, however, the authors ask what happens when women become active gazers. Many of the ideas deserve revisiting at a time when popular cultural texts are increasingly marginalising women's power and agency, while admitting the legitimacy of liberal feminist politics.

Review # 2 was written on 2021-03-18 00:00:00 Chantal Seremty Really interesting read, only giving four stars as it's written in the 80s and my PhD reasearch start date is from 1996. Have had some beneficial things to takeaway though !
