Review # 2 was written on 2014-01-02 00:00:00 Artur Davis Very helpful book for understanding and engaging the reality of God's grace, and our tendency to self-righteous performance. Does a good job outlining the understanding of Justification of Faith while contrasting the human penchant to motivate by shame, manipulation, and performance. Helps the reader deal with the reality and the need to accept God as gracious and desirous to see us follow him out of love and not fear. A more densely and thorough treatment of grace and performance than David Semand's book "Healing for Damaged Emotions". Also, those uninterested in Psychological Theory would be advised to skip over the the three chapters dealing with these things. |
