John Bonnett Wexo. Big Cats. (2011). Did you know tigers have the largest canine of any meat eating land animal? This was one of the many facts I learned from this magazine issue. The information was packed into small chunks along with a many illustrations and photographs. There was an interactive section in the middle with puzzles, games, and a how-to about drawing the animal of the month. The information was good, but there was some grammatical issues which lowered the rating for me. Overall, serves as a good introduction to big cats and would work well in a cat (big or small) unit. Target age: 4-10 years.

There is a whole series of this magazine focusing on specific animals. The framework doe each magazine is the same and includes an introduction of the animal, the anatomy of the animal, where they can be found in the wild, full color illustrations, various species and conservation efforts for this animal. This is a great to enhance non fiction readers. This series is great for grades 3-6.
