These six short plays are one acts that center around women, sometimes only one woman. In these plays are opportunities for actors to grow and for interesting dramaturgical choices. The strength of this book lies in the way it is easy to dissect in the pursuit of a good production of each piece. However some of the direction within the monologues, which most of these plays really are, is unhelpful and this book is recommend for those with a mind in tune to the processes of directing and production of theatre.

Liked all the plays Mamet was weaker than normal cool language but mostly just a joke. The second play was about a suicide and one person who thought it should be stopped at any cost. Was an ok play but not great. The Woody Allen play was better funny and the most developed. All the plays were good and it was worth the read. The Allen play was the most enjoyable. It was a quick read and rather pleasant evening of reading. All the plays lived on the page and were alive in the mind
