Surprising, I learned a lot from this short, mostly picture book. Included in my learning: o The Main Street Bridge was a large WPA project; o The Lakeview Terrace housing project was the first public housing by Roosevelt. Along with Cedar-Central Apartments and Ouhwaite Homes, it was built over a period of 4 years, cost $10 million and provided housing for 2,000 Greater Clevelander families. o The Shoreway project was the largest WPA project in the country. It was called the Shore Drive or Lakefront Road until WWII then it came the Memorial Shoreway. o Galbreath bought the Terminal Tower in 1950 for $35 million then sold it to Forest City, who just recently sold it again. Some pictures were interesting including the one of the dedication of the Terminal Tower (designed for 500 office workers and costing a mere $150 million), the pictures of the bridges being constructed including one with iron workers on pieces of the bridge snapping into place!, the inaugural summr opera festival at the Cleveland Municipal stadium (seating 78,200 for some ball games), a cool demonstration (with lots of top hatted guys) protesting a neighbors eviction during The Great Depression, lots of interesting war pictures, lots of good old political pictures, including some of Stokes and Kucinich - and other council members when they were younger - and Forbes, and two pictures of the Beatles when they were in Cleveland performing! The book was interesting and added to my further knowledge of Cleveland in a limited manner. It was disturbing that the book never mentioned unions at all, despite the impact of unions in our community. That was truly disappointing. As someone who knows Cleveland history, it was also disappointing that pages that were lacking text didn't cover more history.

I did not think this was going to be long enough, but it did give me a good amount of history on how Germans came to Minnesota.
