"I used to HATE Tom Cruise because of what he said about psychiatric medicine. I went so far as to never watch and movie or TV with him in it. The front of this book says "Tom Cruise was Right." I would have burned this book before. But guess what? Even though he made an ass out of himself on the Today Show, he has a point. He just didn't come out with it appropriately." You can check out my blog to see what I learned from this book. I have been diagnosed with depression for 15 years. Its so sad that I have lost so much time being overmedicated and told that there is something "wrong" with me when in fact there is not. I'm just a normal human with normal feelings. I am anxious to use my experience to help others.

I found the author to be sensationalist at best. Some of his statistics seemed skewed and begged a lot more analysis than he gave them. I appreciated his long bibliography and various footnotes, but I don't think he used his information well. I expected a lot more. Nonetheless, I agree with his final analysis that American doctors/patients are too quick to pop a pill. There's a lot to be said for natural light exposure, exercise and a change in diet.
