Review # 1 was written on 2018-05-14 00:00:00 Bethany Walker Aside from a brief preface, this book is just a long list of romanized Manchu words in a fixed-width font. The trick is the ordering: the words are in dictionary order based on considering letters from last to first. Suffixing is prominent in Manchu. The reverse dictionary is well-suited for exploring this suffixing, as words with matching suffixes are adjacent. Amusingly, the spine text of the paperback edition is oriented bottom-to-top; when one shelves the book next to books with top-to-bottom spines (typical for English-language books), either the spine or the book itself is upside-down.
