Review # 1 was written on 2018-01-11 00:00:00 Shaun Blesh The "pathway" presented is well balanced: God & neighbor, prayer/study/service, progression of virtues at varying levels... all based on Charity/Love. Good organization and length of chapters... easy to read in spurts, though I recommend taking your time between reading. You'll get as much or as little as you choose out of this one. On the surface, it's a really good book; pondered in depth, it's extraordinary. I will definitely be looking for more extensive writings from Venerable Louis! |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-11-06 00:00:00 Nancy Grossman This book, takes excerpts from the writings of a sixteenth century Dominican. If you can, read the books that these sections were taken from, and read them in the original. If you want a quick introduction into Ven. Luis de Granada's thought though, this is the book for it. The chapters are short and nicely lay out a framework for living a virtuous Christian life. Granada's thought is always straightforward and easyto grasp. Fr. Jordan Aumann, OP is one of Fray Luis' main translators into English. With this book he does a good job not only with the translation, but also the selection of relevant excerpts. |
